Leo's Reviews

Best place in tucson. Great service. Best margaritas in town. Thank you Leo and Maria. Started going couple of months ago haven't stop yet.

I have been going there for years and Leo and his staff are wonderful. Food is delicious, and they are always very friendly service!

I have been coming to Leo's since I was a kid, visiting my grandparents. I am now an adult and I must say it's the same amazing food!! My favorite dish is Leo's enchiladas. I have searched from California to Texas for enchiladas that I like and without a doubt, Leo's enchiladas are the best I have EVER had! Hidden gem that I am so glad to visit every time I come to Tucson

Leo's is a small place, but it's graced by Leo himself, who is absolutely charming! The food is excellent! I haven't found anything there that wasn't absolutely delicious, and their margaritas are the very best! The waitress remembers us when we go there about every six+ months! Leo's is an absolute favorite with Tucson locals! Check out the newspaper article featuring Leo at his restaurant, when he was a very young man. It hangs on the wall near the front register, and makes it fun to read about the history of the place.

I had dinner here tonight with four friends. I had the Combination Plate #9 ($14.95), which included a chile relleno, carne seca, two large tortillas, rice and beans. There were also the usual bowls of chips and salsa. The chile relleno was a lot spicier than most are. The tortillas were very good. I liked the salsa. The rice, beans and carne seca were unexceptional. Overall, it was a pretty good meal. Service was OK. As for ambiance, there isn't any. They're not aiming for anything fancy here, just a little hole-in-the-wall next door to a strip club. All in all, good but not great.

The food here is delicious! We were here for lunch and the portions were generous, fresh, and authentic. The service was friendly and accommodating as I had to handle a few calls before ordering. A must try!

I went here to join in a friends birthday party. Its not a huge place. The staff was friendly and joked with the patrons. We all ordered something different. The cheese crisp was super yummy--but, how can you go wrong with a cheese crisp!! I ordered flautas. They were not like the ones at my favorite mexican restaurant--but they were "ok". Later upon getting home, I proceeded to be sick to my stomach. Nobody else had this issue--so am guessing it was just maybe an issue with the beef in mine, maybe it was just something with the beef. I have heard great things about their specialty plates--so I will be trying that next time I go. A patron did report that the womens bathroom toilet was backed up. It took a good half hour before anyone was able to go tend to it.
Leo's
Leo's at 5114 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712, is more than just a neighborhood diner. It's where fluffy pancakes, juicy burgers, and smiles from the staff are part of the daily experience. If you’re searching for that classic American bite with a local touch, this is the spot that shows up on your map—and stays in your memory.
The Tucson Favorite That Locals Can’t Stop Talking About
Walk into Leo's, and you’re greeted with the aroma of sizzling bacon and fresh coffee. It’s the kind of place where regulars don’t need to read the menu—they already know what they’re getting. Whether it’s the breakfast burrito, stacked high with scrambled eggs and green chile, or the chicken fried steak that practically covers the plate, the portions here are as generous as the service.
Locals love how Leo's feels like home. There’s a rhythm to the place, a warm energy that makes even first-time visitors feel like they’ve been coming for years. Families gather in booths, students grab quick lunches between classes, and retirees settle in for long, leisurely breakfasts. You’ll often overhear someone say, “This is my spot.” That tells you all you need to know.
What Makes Leo's Stand Out in a City Full of Diners
Leo's isn’t your run-of-the-mill diner. While it honors the tradition of classic American fare, it also leans into the local flavor of Tucson, blending Southwest spices into familiar dishes. The Huevos Rancheros, for example, come with a rich red chile that locals swear by. You won’t find that kind of care in just any breakfast joint.
Beyond the food, the service is a standout. Staff remember your name, ask about your day, and often sneak in a refill before you realize your cup’s half-empty. It’s that personal attention—something not always easy to find—that turns customers into regulars.
It’s also the kind of place where the menu doesn’t need to be twenty pages long. What’s there is tried and true. Biscuits and gravy, cheeseburgers with thick-cut fries, and the kind of milkshakes that transport you straight back to your childhood. There’s nothing pretentious here—just food that’s done right, every time.
A Look at the Plates, the People, and the Place
Leo's thrives because of the people behind the counter. Many have worked here for years, and that consistency shows in the quality. The kitchen hums along with practiced ease. Plates come out fast, hot, and just the way you ordered them. And if something’s off? They’ll fix it with no fuss.
Customer reviews reflect this again and again. “The staff makes me feel like family,” writes one Yelp user. Another adds, “You can’t beat the prices for the amount of food you get.” From the steady stream of five-star ratings to the locals who visit three times a week, the diner earns its praise.
Let’s talk details for a second. The location is prime—on E Speedway Blvd, easy to find and even easier to park. It’s open early, perfect for grabbing coffee and breakfast before work, and it stays busy through lunch. Whether you’re rolling solo or bringing the whole crew, there’s a booth or counter stool waiting.
If You Know, You Know—And If You Don’t, Now You Do
There’s no shortage of dining options in Tucson, but few places hit that sweet spot of consistency, flavor, and community the way Leo's does. It’s where early birds grab their favorite seat before sunrise, and late risers still catch a warm plate of French toast at noon.
You don’t need to check reviews to know Leo's is a gem—but you’ll find plenty anyway, and they all tell the same story: solid food, fair prices, great people. From their location to their menu, everything feels tuned for comfort. Not flashy. Just real.
This place is a hidden gem! They just remodeled the dining room and it is beautiful. Leo, Maria and all the Staff are very friendly and after just 2-3 visits, they treat you like family. Food is great, I've tried most of the items on their menu and have not found one I would not recommend, all have been great and portion sizes are generous. Their Salsa is perfect with their chips, not bland tomato paste like many restaurants, with a little bit of a bite, but not too hot and with a perfect flavor. Margaritas are great; the large size isn't shown on the menu, but just ask for it Large (very well priced). The cost of the food is also very appropriate. I take all visitors here at least once. I highly recommend Leo's Mexican Restaurant!
